Can we live without Sin? Who goes to Heaven?
Many Christians believe that all people are sinners and therefore can only be saved by the grace of God, which is true. But the actual problem is that they think that we can’t live without sin and hence we shouldn’t even try to. They claim that the Law of the Old Testament isn’t valid anymore and that we don’t have to keep the commandments.
Most people justify this false doctrine by saying that Jesus died for our sins and that we are solely saved just by believing in his death. They claim that it wouldn’t matter how we behave and whether we keep Gods commandments or not. But is this really true? Is it that simple? Will everyone come into heaven? Or is it actually possible to live without sin?
I guess it’s quite obvious that everyone who doesn’t live according to the will of God is a sinner. In this article I will explain whether it is possible to live without sin and who goes to heaven according to the Bible.
What is Sin?
In order to find out whether we can live without sin or not, we first have to clarify what sin is. The transgression of the law is considered to be a sin in God’s eyes. God has given us the commandments because He wants us to keep them. It is a sin to ignore God’s Word intentionally. That’s why it is sinful to disobey the commandments of God. The New Testament says:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (1 John 3:4)
Furthermore, it is also a sin to do bad things on purpose. If you have the choice between a good deed and a bad deed and you deliberately choose the bad one, you can clearly call that a sin.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)
It is very important to understand that you sin with your heart and not necessarily with your body or actions. Jesus said that you are already an adulterer if you lust after a woman or a man that is not your spouse. Even though, this isn’t a real “deed” or “act” it is still a sin. Because your heart has sinned.
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5: 27-28)
Jesus calls the people to Repentance
Jesus’ behavior shows us that God doesn’t want us to sin at all. He himself was free of sin and taught us how to live a holy life according to God’s will. He also strongly warned the people to live without sin! Jesus absolutely did not approve or tolerate sin. If someone had sinned, he forgave the person, but also strictly commanded them to never sin again.
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. (John 5:14)
And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (John 8:11)
Why should have Jesus preached that people should stop sinning, if it wouldn’t matter to God anyway? People claim that Jesus died for our sins. And that’s true. But Jesus didn’t die for the sake of justifying our sinful behavior.
Another example of God’s rejection of sin is Jesus’ reaction in the temple of God. When Jesus saw the people abusing the temple as a marketplace, he became so angry that he knocked over the tables and booths of the vendors, chasing them and their animals out of the temple. For him it was a great sin that people abused the temple of God for their greedy purposes. He never protected hypocritical peace at the costs of God’s will. He always did exactly what God wanted him to do, regardless of the peoples reaction or opinion.
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. (Matthew 21:12-13)
Can we live without Sin? God enables us to live without Sin
Does the Bible say that sinners enter the kingdom of God? Can somebody really be saved if he sins permanently?
Our own works and efforts won’t be able to make us righteous before God. Only God himself can help us to keep up with His expectations and make us able to live without sin. To get a new life means to to be born of God. Everyone who is born of God inherits his holy nature and therefore lives and acts according to his will.
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44)
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. (1 John 5:1)
Whoever is born of God is guided by His truth. All you need to do is to listen to Him and what He commands you to do. He himself enables us to keep His commandments. The Bible even says that whoever is born of God, cannot sin at all:
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1 John 3:3-10)
Everyone who is born of God overcomes the world. For such a person it isn’t difficult to keep the commandments of God:
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:2-5)
If you are really born of God, you will automatically keep the commandments of God. Actually, you don’t even have to study the law because God’s spirit tells you exactly what to do. In other words: you follow the law without even realizing it. Because you love what God loves and you hate what God hates. The commandments of God perfectley match the will of God. That’s why Paul said:
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (Galatians 5:18)
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. (2 Corinthians 3:3)

God’s Children live without Sin – Whoever is born of God is no longer a sinner in God’s eyes
The Bible says that we WERE sinners. But not that we are STILL sinners if we have been born again:
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:6-8)
God is not a sinner. And therefore, His children live without sin. Those who have been born of God are no longer a part of this world and are no longer slaves to the evil. They are children of God and not of this world. The Bible even states that children of God are gods:
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. (Psalm 82:6)
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)
We have to believe God’s promise if we want to change
Everyone who doesn’t believe that he can live without sin, will also never be able to. How do you want to achieve something that you cannot even believe in? God created his children in his very own image and He knows that they are absolutely capable of living a perfectly holy life, just as Jesus did. Why shouldn’t we be able to live without sinning if Jesus was able to?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:20-21)
No one can get salvation if he doesn’t want to believe God. God believes in His children and He loves them above everything. He is full of confidence that everyone can become like his son Jesus. God has sent Jesus to teach us how to live a holy life according to His will. Jesus is the firstborn of God’s children. Everyone who is born of God becomes a child of God just as he is. We should follow his example if we want to please God. Jesus even, said that we can do greater things than him:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children. (Ephesians 5:1)
The grace of God is for accidental mistakes and not a license to sin
Unfortunately, the grace of God is misused by many Christians for their own purposes. They pretend that they don’t even have to try to please God because the grace of God would save them. But in fact, the grace of God only exists to cover our unintentional mistakes. Grace totally doesn’t mean that we can sin freely without any consequences. God wants us to do our best and follow His commandments. He doesn’t want us to be slaves of this world. He wants us to become his holy children and behave likewise.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (1 John 2:1)
The Bible even warns us of people who abuse the grace of God as a justification for their sinful lives. Such people lack love for God. All they want is to receive salvation without even trying to follow His will:
But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. (Judas 1:17-19)
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Judas 1:4)
Can we live without sin? Only those who fulfill the will of God will enter his kingdom
It is God’s will that we keep His commandments and live according to His will just as Jesus did. Everyone who loves God and received a new life, loves to keep God’s commandments and to live as it pleases Him. Everyone who doesn’t do that, simply isn’t born of God. This is exactly how it is written in the Bible. Everyone who thinks that he absolutely isn’t able to live without sin is not of God, but of this world. Only those who fulfill the will of God can also enter his kingdom. It is not enough just to claim that you believe in Jesus. Because everyone who actually believes in him, also follows his teachings:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:21-23)
It is written in the Bible that not many people will enter the kingdom of God. The majority of people will just adapt to the world and do the same worldy things as the rest of the society. Only those who are truly of another spirit will choose the right path:
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
The story of Moses and the Hebrews is another example which clearly shows that not everyone goes to heaven. God freed the Hebrews from their slavery in Egypt to bring them into a good land. He revealed His power to them and showed them many great signs and wonders. And the only thing He wanted them to do was to keep His commandments for their own sake. Yet, after countless transgressions, God decided that most of them wouldn’t enter the Promised Land with the exception of those who were of a different spirit: Those who were obedient to God and kept His commandments.
And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word: But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord. Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. (Numbers 14:20-24)
Not everyone will go to heaven – Sinners will not inherit the Kingdom of God
Most Christians who claim that we don’t have to keep the commandments anymore use the words of Paul to prove their theory. Ironically, exactly this man has preached many times that unrighteous people don’tgo to heaven. Neither adulterers, nor thieves, nor greedy people. In other words: people who live in sin. This shows that Paul strongly believed that you have to stop sinning if you confess to Jesus and want to enter the kingdom of God.
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. (Ephesians 5: 5-7)
But there are also other passages in the New Testament that prove that the commandments of the Old Testament should be observed. The book of Revelation says that the dragon (the devil) will fight against those who keep the commandments of God and follow Jesus’ teachings:
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:17)

People need to wake up and recognize that most of the Christian teachings are corrupted and don’t match the truth of the Bible. After all, people can only be saved if they accept the truth and follow the will of God.
